Finding the best storage method can be a puzzle, and methods that have worked in the past may not support your needs in the future. Siggins can help you find the right path by performing an on-site inventory analysis,
Implementing the proper design for your distribution operation begins with accurately determining current inventory specifications. The first step is to develop an understanding of the scope and predicted growth rate characteristics of individual product types and lines. The next step is to conduct a cube analysis of product stored in each section of the facility’s forward pick operations. Inventory is classified After Inventory Analysis according to size, shape, and cube volume. These classified products are then analyzed by line and present location.
Along with taking a physical inventory of the cube volume, each line occupies in the current storage space, the appropriateness of the storage media application and picking methodology are assessed. This assessment is based partly upon physical inspections of how the product is being picked and stored, and partly upon knowledge of product distribution characteristics. By extrapolating the inventory analysis calculations, along with pick velocity data and other pertinent factors determined during the design and build process, the proper storage media requirements for future growth will be implemented into the distribution center design.
