When shipping products, you must ensure they stay in place from the start until the end of their journey. Stretch wrapping holds boxes and pallets together, ensuring they arrive intact at their destination. Siggins has several types of industrial stretch wrap machines available, which can accommodate various pallet sizes. Our stretch wrapping solutions are also available in several configurations so you can wrap loads of varying shapes.
Learn more about how we can help you make stretch wrappers part of your packaging and materials handling process.
Stretch wrappers attach wrapping materials to your loads either by hand (manually) or automatically. There are two ways to wrap a load. The first method rotates the load on a turntable so the wrapping media wraps around it. The second method rotates the wrapper around the load, which doesn’t move. You choose how many wraps each load receives and the tightness of each wrap.
Using a stretch wrapper maximizes the stretch of the plastic film, usually anywhere from 100% stretch to 400% stretch. By contrast, when a human wraps a package by hand, they usually can only stretch the film a maximum of 20%.
Here are the stretch wrappers available from Siggins:
Manual Turntable | Robot Wrapper | Orbital Wrapper |
Rotary Arm, Automatic Feed | Rotary Arm, Manual Feed |
A manual turntable stretch wrapper has a circular platform that supports the load and rotates. Workers turn the platform by hand after placing the load on the turntable. As the platform turns, the stretch wrapper encases the load.
Manual turntable stretch wrappers are versatile and suitable for a range of applications.
A robot turntable is an automatic pallet stretch wrapper. The machine takes care of everything instead of requiring a worker to wrap the load with the stretch media. The pallets or boxes load onto the wrapping machine. Then, the turntable spins as the wrapping media surrounds it. A robot turntable can make fast work of wrapping packages, increasing productivity.
Our orbital wrapping machines reverse the wrapping process. Instead of rotating the pallet or packaging itself, the wrapper encircles the pallet, which stays stationary. Typically, the packaging is placed horizontally in an orbital wrapper, which is one way the machines differ from rotary arm stretch wrappers. Orbital wrappers are ideal for objects of unusual shape or size, such as tubing, piping or windows.
Like an orbital wrapper, a rotary arm stretch wrapper wraps the media around the pallet, which remains stationary. Typically, a rotary arm machine holds the pallet vertically while wrapping. With an automatic feed, the arm moves on its own. A rotary arm machine is ideal for use with either very heavy or lightweight pallets, as the automated feed ensures the pallet is wrapped to the appropriate tightness.
A manual feed rotary arm stretch wrapping machine is similar to an automatic feed rotary arm machine, except the arm is rotated by hand. With a manual feed machine, an operator must also move the packages on and off the wrapper.
Semi-automatic stretch wrappers operate in the middle ground between fully automatic and fully manual machines. Some parts of the wrapping process are automated, while others require human interaction and intervention.
You can use stretch wrappers when shipping or storing products in a warehouse. There are several benefits to using either an automatic or manual stretch-wrapping machine:
