The Challenge
Innovation for the Innovator: From their early days in the 1920s when they combined porcelain enameling, pigments and modern manufacturing methods, to current operations where they continue to innovate and create new coatings and colors, Ferro has a long history of finding new ways to improve performance. Siggins was asked to assist with their efforts in making their Norcross, Georgia facility into a paperless operation. This proved to be an excellent application for Siggins eWMS™.
The Solution
After making some changes to the existing system design and controls, eWMS was seamlessly incorporated into the daily workflow. The web-based interface has enabled greater automation through directed activities.
Supervisors can now assign tasks in real-time via web-connected devices and computers. By using the dashboards they can track worker and distribution center performance, have easy access to a "virtual" view of the entire facility, and the paths of AGV fork trucks are controlled by eWMS™.
The Result
Better personnel and resource management, enhanced customer service, more inventory turns, comprehensive visibility, lower operating costs and near 100% accuracy.
